CRIME FIGHTING: OSUN POLICE SOLICIT SUPPORT OF RETIRED OFFICERS

The police authorities in Osun state have resolved to tap the experience of retired policemen in efforts to fight crime in the state. Police commissioner Fimihan Adeoye said it was necessary to ensure the success of community policing initiative.

Retired senior police officers in a meeting with top serving police operatives. It is part of series of efforts by the state Police command to combat the rising scale of security threats in the state.
The retired senior officers speaking through Vice Chairman of its association, Joseph Odetade, a retired deputy commissioner of Police call for a platform to interact with serving police officers through an on-the-job training that could further enhance productivity and professionalism among serving officers . This they say will help forestall friction between police and members of the public.
Police commissioner Fimihan Adeoye told the retirees that inspector general of police Ibrahim Idris is keen on soliciting the support of all to make the nation secure through the community policing template.

The retired police officers for their part expressed a readiness for a recall any moment their services are needed in the face of the current security challenges
