SPORTS: NUJ CORRESPONDENTS WHIP RADIO NIGERIA 5-3 IN EKITI


In what may be tagged clash of the titans, The football team of Nigeria Union of Journalists, Electronics correspondent had no mercy for its opponent, Team Radio Nigeria, Progress FM losing to the superior fire power of the electronics chapel with the former whipping the latter with five goals to three.
In a novelty march organized by Radio Nigeria Progress FM Ado-Ekiti to celebrate its 14th year of existence, NUJ Electronics chapel did not mind being hosted by Radio Nigeria to nullify the winning streak recorded by Radio Nigeria in their last encounter in 2016.

The match played at the Federal Polytechnic, had its kickoff made by the school rector Dr. Theresa Akande represented by Deputy Rector Segun Aladegbaye.
Akande who was represented by the school deputy rector, Dr Segun Aladegbeye charged both teams to ensure fairness in their dealings.
Olajide Kolawole  opened the first goal for Progress FM, when Omolewa Oluwafemi came with the equalizer for NUJ Correspondent (Electronics), Clement  Osubu scored the second goal for NUJ (Electronics) and Olarinoye Samuel  came with the third goal.
However,Olowokere Damilola scored the second goal for Progress FM. And another strike from Clement Osubu made it the fourth goal for NUJ electronics, while a superb free-kick from Promise Ayodele was the last straw that broke the camel’s back as it gives the Correspondents a comfortable lead, 5-2 before a consolatory goal from the penalty spot from Johnson Olowokere of Radio Nigeria, Progress FM.
The game ended 5-3 in favour of NUJ Correspondents Chapel (electronics) as the team beat Progress 100.5 FM 5-3.
The team Manager, Ekiti NUJ Correspondent Chapel (Electronics)Football team, Mr Tunde Akinlabi who was elated at the success recorded by his team in an interview told newsmen that the feat was achieved by a dint of hard work and commitment
The Chairman Ekiti NUJ Correspondents Chapel (Electronics), Abidemi Sikiru who received the winning team also lauded the team-spirit displayed by the players.
