GYB Never Admit To Double Registration, Disregard Safiya Musa- Kogi Govt.

You Are Bereft Of Common Sense- Saphiya Musa

The double registration Saga rocking the governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello is no doubt getting messier. This is against the backdrop of defence and accusations mounted by governor’s media machinery.

The latest is coming from the Director General of Media and Publicity for the governor Kingsley Fanwo in a press statement accusing Safiya Musa of speaking on behalf of the governor in admitting that he actually did double registration.

Fanwo said “Our attention has been drawn to an unsolicited and derogatory publication doing the round and allegedly circulated by one Safiya Musa to the effect that the Executive Governor of Kogi State has admitted committing double PVC registration.”

“We crave the understanding of the public to the fact that the said Safiya Musa was not speaking on behalf of the Governor of Kogi State. Safiya Musa is not a spokesperson to the Governor, not an appointee of the New Direction Government, not a friend of the Governor and therefore lacks any locus standi to speak for or on behalf of the Governor.”

The statement further posited that “Governor Yahaya Bello has not made any personal statement regarding the INEC claim of double registration and it is therefore obnoxious and criminal of anyone to purport and disseminate information on it.”

But in a swift reaction,  Safiya Stephanie Musa, an executive of a first generation bank with huge social media presence dismissed the position of Kingsley Famwo saying “Governor Bello’s Media Hirelings lack political strategic sense.”

I’m a statement put up on her facebook page,  Queen Saphy  as she is fondly called said “Fanwo’s statement, typical of most official correspondence from Lugard House, is bereft of common sense, strategy, smart thinking and ingenuity in the planning and execution of government business.”

“It is important to note that the entire mess of Gov Bello’s ‘double registration’ has been partly created and exacerbated by the unprofessional way the Governor’s team has handled the matter. It is shocking that no-one on his team advised the Governor about the perils of double registration. Instead the media team gleefully shared the photographs of the wrong registration, attacked anyone who pointed out double registration is an electoral offence, defended the ‘electoral fraud’, and are now engaged in attacking INEC for upholding the law.”

“Your principal, Alhaji Yahaya Bello has been accused of committing the serious electoral offence of ‘double registration’, (although he did so inadvertently), and here you are doing more damage to the very image you are paid to launder!

Ideally, you should thank me for offering you strategic media assistance (pro bono). Common sense should tell you that further comments on the double registration allegation against your principal, will only escalate the matter and cause him more trouble. Do you put out a raging fire by pouring inflammable content into it?”

Fanwo sounded extremely elementary and personal  in his response (as usual). I would have expected him to use the opportunity to burnish the image of his boss, and not to go on a tirade re who is Bello’s friend or enemy.”

Queen Saphy stated that she cannot speak on behalf of governor Yahaya  Bello as she was not commissioned to do so. “His(Fanwo) response is fraught with a litany of illogical allegations. How could I have issued a press statement in the Governor’s name when I do not work for him? How could I have written officially in his defence when I wasn’t contracted to do such?

Does this allegation of impersonation make any sense?

Sadly, Kogites and Nigerians have become so used to the plethora of embarrassing conduct coming from Kogi Government aides, that nothing, no matter how bizarre, surprises us anymore.

My major worry and concern is the fact outsiders now see Kogi as the ‘confluence of confusion.” Queen Saphy ended
