Lagos LG Poll: Amuwo-Odofin APC Rejects Chairmanship Candidate, Others In Protest

A group of the All Progressives Congress in Amuwo-Odofin under the aegis of Apex leaders and members of the All Progressive Congress, APC. Amuwo Odofin Local Government Area on Friday carried out a peaceful protest over what they tagged the imposition of chairmanship and councilorship candidates for the Local Government elections scheduled for July 22.

The protesters took their grievance to the lagos state headquarters of the All Progressives Congress.

The aggrieved party members insists that the chairmanship candidate for the and councillors were imposed on them.

Chairman of the apex leaders of the party in Amuwo Odofin, Alhaja Memunat Ajao said it is time for party leaders in the state to look into the knotty  issue that started since May 27th at the chairmanship primaries at Teslim Balogun stadium again.

Ajao further alleged that the immediate past Chairman of the Local Government, Ayodele Adewale wants his stooge, Valentine Buraimoh to fly the party’s flag at the election.

According to Ajao ” We know the National leader of our party is not in support of the imposition, Ayo is trying to cover up his past misdeed at the local government, we want things to be done accordingly.”

Mr. Tunde Ajayi, the Secretary of the apex body corroborated the claims made by Alhaja. Ajao,  said the ruling party may not do well on the election day come July 22  except the right thing is done.

He expressed dissatisfaction over the primary that brought Buraimoh to become the party’s flag bearer. In his words “Ayodele Adewale can’t impose any candidate on us, Asiwaju is not aware of this.”

There is no official reaction from the party if the demand of the protesters will be looked into as the local government poll is just few weeks away.
