W/Cup 2018 :Nigeria beats Zambia, Becomes 1st African Team To Qualify

Alex iwobi's 72nd minute goal against Zambia was all the super eagles of Nigeria needed to qualify for next year's world cup in Russia.

The tension soaked encounter looked to be heading for a goalless draw before substitute Alex iwobi calmly slotted home after receiving a pass from abdullahi shehu.

Nigeria made three substitutions in the second half Mikel agu replacing injured ogenyi onazi in the 54th minutes while alex iwobi replaced Moses simon in the 66th minutes.

Ola Aina made his debut replacing injured elderson echiejile in the 77th minute.

With the victory over the chipolopolo the super eagles top group B with 13 points with a game left to play.

The super eagles have now qualified for their sixth world cup appearance having first qualified in 1994 and qualifying for the round of 16 on three occasions.

They  have 13 points at the top of Group and an unassailable six-point lead ahead of Zambia, with one round of games left.
They join other countries like Brazil, Spain, Mexico, England, Germany, Iran, South Korea, etc. who have also booked their places at next year’s tournament.
