Akeredolu Scraps Payment of WAEC Fees,says Education Remains Free


Ondo State Government on Wednesday disclosed that it will no longer pay for the Senior secondary School Leaving Certificate Examinations of students in the state

However, it says it will not discontinue the free education programme being enjoyed by the students of Primary and secondary schools in the state.

The State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology Femi Agagu made the disclosure while briefing journalists after the weekly state Executives Council meeting, today In Akure.

According to him,  an education trust fund will be set up for mobilization of resources for the funding of education in the state.

Agagu said every adult in the state will now be paying a sum of #1000 education levy, to be administered by the trust fund committee.

He further disclosed that the executive Council has also upheld all the recommendations of the stakeholders at the just concluded education summit.
