Osun Govt Keeps Sealed Lips Over Debt Profile

The state government of Osun seems not ready to give out the exact status of the state's debt standing.

The commissioner for finance in Osun state Bola Oyebamiji while speaking with journalists kept mum over the debt profile of the state.

Oyebamiji while on familiarisation tour to journalists in Osogbo the state capital, opined that the borrowings of the Rauf Aregbesola led government is to "prepare the state for the future" saying that no nation of the world can develop without borrowing.

The commissioner for finance when asked for the actual debt profile of the state however kept mute on the matter. Not satisfied with his answer, he was later  asked about the range of Osun's debt standing, Oyebamiji said the debt of Osun state is been managed and it is nothing compared to the infrastructural development witnessed in the state but shrugged with the sign of no answer about the range of Osun's debt profile.

Bola Oyebamiji is been touted as governorship hopeful under the All Progressives Congress. Asked about his ambition, Oyebamiji says he is grossly concerned for the now on how to finish well with the government of Rauf Aregbesola, saying that is the priority.

Several figures have been bandied around as the debt profile which makes the state to be on financial insolvency but Bola Oyebamiji dispelled this, avowing that the state may be in precarious financial situation just as it is obtainable with other states, but that the state is not insolvent.
