Osun 2018: INEC Targets 75% Collection Of PVC.

The Independent National Electoral Commission is targeting 75% collection of the permanent Voter cards by the electorates before September 22nd Governorship election in Osun state.

 

This is just as the commission says it will prosecute the election with over 15,000 ad hoc staff.

 

The state Residents Electoral Commissioner, Olusegun Agbaje stated this in Osogbo during a meeting with Chairmen and secretaries of the 48 contesting political parties as well as  the governorship candidates and their running mates.

 

It less than 45 days to the Osun State governorship election and attention is now shifted to the state.

 

The independent National Electoral Commission which is the major stakeholder in the is not living anything to chance.

 

At this stakeholders meeting, the commission says a total of 1,127,866 representing 67.6% permanent Voter cards received from its headquarters have distributed while 540,658 representing 32.4% are yet to be collected by the owners.

 

Agbaje said the commission would take the PVCs to all the 332 wards across the state for distribution with a call on the political party chairmen and their candidates to sensitize voters on the need to collect their cards.

 

Some participants expressed satisfaction with the commission over the stakeholders meeting.

 

With forty eight political parties taking part in the contest, the umpire promised to create a level playing field for all.
