The newly constituted ninth senate has adjourned legislative activities till the second of July 2019.
The decision came after President of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan swore-in the immediate past Governor of Imo state Rochas Okorocha as Senator representing Imo West.
Okorocha was on Tuesday issued his certificate of return by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, following over two months of foot-dragging.
Though the electoral umpire had declared Mr Okorocha winner of the election that held on February 23, INEC refused to issue him a certificate of return alleging that there were irregularities in the election.
But a federal high court in Abuja on Monday ordered disagreed with INEC and ordered it to immediately issue the certificate of return to him.
