The dust raised by the federal government’s RUGA project may not be settling any time soon as checks reveal that the said program, though suspended bt the federal government due to outcry from Nigerians is still on course and the presidency is determined to see the project delivered.
In a letter addressed to the permanent secretary in federal ministry of Agriculture and personally signed by the Chief of Staff to the president, Abba Kyari, the presidency acknowledged the suspension of RUGA program citing non-comiance with the approved plan by the National Economic Council, National Food Security Council and the Federal Executive Council.
The second paragraph of the letter dated the 2nd of July, 2019 and received by the Ministry on the 3rd however spelt out fresh strategy in making the program acccepted.
The letter states that “An implementation committee of the National Livestock Transformation Program comprising of Representatives from NEC, NSFC and the Honourable minister for Agriculture will be inaugurated in due course to oversee the delivery of this project”
The letter which was to be treated as top secret and as such classified as restricted however made its way to the internet space thereby causing another round of debates from Nigerians.
