Vice president,Yemi Osinbajo said that the presidency is committed to facilitating security programmes on community policing in order to ensure safer communities in all states across the nation.
Vice president,Yemi Osinbajo stated this in Osogbo during a closed-door meeting on security matters with traditional rulers in Osun state as directed by president Mohammed Buhari.
Speaking to journalists Vice president said that the consultations with traditional rulers was on the instruction of President Muhammadu Buhari.
Osinbajo described the traditional rulers as the interface between the government and their various communities,he thereby maintained that it is paramount that they are engaged in the fight against insecurity .
He said that government planned to increase security operations in the Southwest and the sorrounding forests across the zone.
Foremost monarch, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi expressed optimism that the presidency is determined to address security challenges in the nation.
Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi however said that traditional rulers in the state will leave no stone unturned to ensure that the presidency fulfil her promises.
He assured Nigerians and those in diaspora that the security programmes pledged by the presidency will ensure safety in their various communities.
Present at the meeting were: Osun State Deputy Governor, Benedict Alabi, Speaker, Osun State House of Assembly, Timothy Owoeye, other state functionaries and service commanders.
Also Present at the meeting were: the Ooni of Ife, Adeyeye Ogunwusi, the Ogiyan of Ejigbo, Omowonuola Oyesosin, the oluwo of iwo Adewale Akanbi.
Other monarchs included; the Orangun of Ila, Wahab Oyedotun and the Owa Obokun of Ijesaland, Gabriel Aromolaran among others.
The vice president had earlier held similar meetings with the Akarigbo of Remoland, Oba Babatunde Ajayi, and the Awujale of Ijebu Kingdom, Sikiru Adetona in Ogun State.
