Speaker of Osun state assembly, Timothy Owoeye has promised that members of the 7th state house of assembly are ready to work collectively and efficiently towards delivering of service to the people.
Timothy Owoeye stated this at the three-day legislative retreat, held in iloko- ijesha, Osun state.
Owoeye said the administration is set towards enhancing economic growth in the state, which has been one of the challenges facing the nation.
” that the overarching goal of the current assembly is to place the Osun economy on the path to sustainable growth, poverty elimination, economic opportunities, block loopholes and tackle injustices around us”.
The speaker Urged Colleagues to use this retreat to genuinely develop and sharpen their legislative skills.
Governor of State of Osun, Gboyega Oyetola, has admonished the members to pay more attention to the constituent they represent and to prioritize the willingness to serve the interest of the people.
“I urged this respected assembly to make people engagement the basic of the legislative activities, the people must be the source and the essence of legislative engagement, as representatives of the people, you must be close to your constituents know their needs, do advocacy on their behalf and pass laws that support their needs and aspirations”.
The Governor said, they shall always require executive bills to effectively execute development and other tasks at hand and ahead, and require the cooperation of the house, all decision must be taken in the overall interest of the people whom we all swore to serve and protect.
Gboyega Oyetola, who was represented by secretary to the state government, Oyewole Oyebamiji, said there is need to design a road map that will guide the members towards contributing to the development of the state and nation as a whole.
“The theme of this legislative retreat, enhancing service delivery through legislative engagement, is apt and timely as it will provide better and improved mechanics and mechanism for delivering your electoral promise to the people and set a tone for sustainable service delivery in the state”. He stated.
House of assembly member, representing Obokun, Adewole adewumi, has assured the people of the state that the three-day retreat will yield a positive outcome on the members towards building the state.
