A 70 year old man was arrested in Changaga,Minna state Niger state for allegedly raping an eight year old girl.
The culprit,identified as Mohammad Sani Umar was reported to have raped the girl twice before giving her N80 to keep mum about the incident and not share it with anyone.
The young girl later revealed what the man did to her when her mother noticed her strange behavior and examined her.
According to her uncle,Abubakar,he said she was sick for some weeks and after all treatment proved to be ineffective,a neighbor advised her mom to keep a close watch on the girl and the Mum did just that.
After some days,the mother noticed some stains in her underwear and asked her what happened to her,she didn’t say anything,she just took her mother to his place and pointed at Umar.On seeing the girl and her Mum,Umar didn’t even argue,he just started begging them to cover it up,he told them he would take responsibility.
According to the uncle,Umar confessed to the crime after he was beaten by angry members in the community before handing him over to the police for further investigation and prosecution.
Afternoon he was severely beaten,he confessed that he had sex with her twice.He said he gave her N50 once and N30 the second time.
