Don’t Sign 2022 Budget Except CONHESS Is Captured JOHESU Tells Buhari

Health workers in the country have appealed to President Muhammadu Buhari to ensure the adjusted Consolidated Health Salary Structure, CONHESS is captured in the 2022 budget before passage.

The health workers say any attempt to do otherwise is an invitation to industrial unrest in the sector from the first quarter of the new year.

The warning was laid down by the National Chairman of Joint Health Sector Unions, JOHESU Biobelemoye Josiah, when he appeared on AIT’s magazine programme, Kakaaki on monday, where he wormed that the unions wouldn’t be able to guarantee industrial harmony in the health sector if the president fails to include the adjusted salary structure.

Josiah said the unions are aware that there is a provision of eighty billion naira set aside to take care of the salary adjustment for all health workers and any attempt to divert the funds for other purposes, will meet stiff opposition.

On the adjustments made to the hazard allowance from N5,000 to N34,000, Josiah says the unions have accepted the explanation offered by the Federal Government, but warns again that any attempt to favour the medical Soctors against the other health workers, would be resisted.

Meanwhile, The Federal Government has charged newly inducted medical graduates to desist from joining incessant strikes by doctors in the country.

Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige gave this charge at the university of Abuja while speaking at the induction of six medical graduates of the University into the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria.

A statement by the Deputy Director press in the ministry, Charlse Akpan says Ngige whose son, Dr Andrew Ngige was among the new inductees, urged the medical graduates to be of good behaviour and uphold the highest ethical standards while carrying out their duties.
