Ekiti State Hosts Scrabble Players From Other States At TZAR Championship

It was a memorable outing on Saturday when scrabble players from various parts of the country including the FCT, Abuja converged in Ado Ekiti for a day scrabble Championship sponsored by TZAR FOUNDATION.

The event held at the Inland Club in Ado featured at least 20 players with about 10 of them including students from Ekiti State.

At the end of the tournament which was also graced by the former scrabble Association chairman, Mr Aduloju and his friends, a veteran player from Osun State , Dokun Esan came first while Okpakpor Obaro from Delta state came second and the third position went to Adeloye Adetomiwa from Ondo State and the fourth position also went to an Ondo State player, Erinle Olugboyega.

The best position that Ekiti got was 5th with Ajayi Mathew clinching the position and Ekiti state also occupied the 7th position through Akpata Bamidele.

Ekiti state scrabble players namely, Aladesiun Olusola, Alabi Daniel and Olawale Henry finished in the 8th, 9th and 10th positions.

In all, 20 scrabble players particicipated in the TZAR EKITI SCRABBLE CHAMPIONSHIP while the top 10 players went home with various cash and material prizes.

The Ekiti state Scrabble coach, Ajewole Olaniyi said he was impressed with the organization of the event though the turn out of Ekiti state scrabble players was low.

One of the brains behind the competition, Ajayi Mathew commended the visiting players who defied all odds to participate in the competition saying it was an eye opener and an avenue to further expose young scrabble players from Ekiti state.

A veteran scrabble player, sponsor and enthusiast, Mr Aduloju commended Hon. Temitayo Zubair AbdulRazaq of TZAR FOUNDATION for sponsoring the scrabble competition saying it’s a way to complement government’s quest to develop sports in Ekiti State.

The scrabble competition is the second sport in recent time that TZAR FOUNDATION had sponsored having recently sponsored TZAR Olota Unity football championship in Ado Ekiti.
