Fintiri, Others Lay Wreaths As Nigerians Mark 2022 Armed Forces Remembrance Day

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has led dignitaries in Adamawa state to laying of wreaths in honor of the Nation’s fallen heroes as part of the grand finale marking the twenty twenty two Armed Forces Remembrance Day.

The event which held at Mahmud Ribadu Square, Yola Saturday was attended by personalities, serving and retired soldiers as well as widows of the personnel who paid the supreme price.

Others that laid the wreaths at the event included the Deputy Speaker Adamawa State House of Assembly Mr Pwamakaino Makwondo who represented the Speaker and State Chief Judge, Justice Nathan Musa.

The Lamido Adamawa Doctor Muhammadu Barkindo represented by the Galadima Adamawa, Mustapha Aminu has also laid the wreaths at the event.

Others were the Commanders of the Twenty Three Armoured Brigade, Yola, one five three Base Service Group, and representative of the Commissioner of Police in Adamawa.

The rest that followed were the State Chairman of the Nigeria Legion, Master Warrant Officer Mohammed Ali and representative of the widows of the Fallen Heroes of the Nigeria Armed Forces.

Governor Fintiri had on arrival at the venue of the event inspected a guard of honor mounted by members of the Nigeria Armed Forces in commemoration of the day celebrated across the country.

Fintiri in an interview with newsmen lauded the gallant officers of the Nigerian Armed Forces for keeping the nation secured and urged them to redouble efforts in that regard.

He said the unity and peaceful coexistence of the country remained sacrosanct and saluted the falling heroes for paying the supreme price in serving the country.

Highlights of the event were offering of special prayers, observing a minute silence and firing of three gun salute in honor of the fallen heroes and releasing of pigeons by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri signifying peace.

Armed Forces Remembrance Day is celebrated on fifteen of January annually to honor gallant members of the Nigeria Armed Forces who died in the line of duty and those who are still serving at various peace operations nationally and internationally.
