Niger suspends operational license of eighteen Private Tertiary Health Institutions in the state

Niger State has suspended the licenses of fifteen private tertiary health institutions for performing below standard.

The Commissioner For Tertiary Education, Science and Technology, Professor Baba Aliyu, said this in an interview with Journalists in Minna, the Niger State capital.

 

Professor Baba Aliyu revealed that there are twenty-eight private tertiary health institutions across the state.

The Commissioner expressed worry at the performance of most of the private tertiary health institutions, hence the need to address the trend.

Stakeholders from different higher institutions in the state had deliberated extensively on the existing operational guidelines, seeking to come up with new ones.

The cross-fertilization of ideas by the stakeholders has led to the formulation of new operational guidelines for the private tertiary institutions in the state.

Niger State Government, according to the Permanent Secretary, Ministry For Tertiary Education, Science and Technology, Musa Abubakar, has assured the participants of the meeting, that it will ensure that private tertiary institutions operate within the provisions of guidelines.

Musa Abubakar maintained that violators of the guidelines would be sanctioned by the provisions of the laws.
