ASUU STRIKE: FG Meets Lecturers Today

The Nigerian Government has finally scheduled a meeting with executives of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, one week after it began one month warning strike.

A statement by the Deputy Director, press, Ministry of Labour and Employment, Charlse Akpan said, the Minister for Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige will be meeting with the Executive of Academic Staff Union of Universities ASUU and relevant Government Agencies on Tuesday, February 22, 2022, by 1 pm

ASUU declared a one month warning strike on February 14, to reject the professorship appointment of the minister of communications and digital economy, Isa Pantami.

ASUU is also unhappy over Government’s delay in adopting the University Transparency and Accountability Solution, UTAS in place of Intergrated Payroll and personnel information system, IPPIS as well as non release of Revitalisation funds and non-renegitiation of the 2009 FG/ASUU Agreement.

But at the end of the last Federal Executive Council Meeting, The minister of Education, Malam Adamu Adamu, while saying He was surprised ASUU embarked on strike Confirmed N100 Billion Naira has been released to ASUU.

A cross Section of Nigerians, inuding the National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS has condemned the ongoing strike, threatening to shutdown the country in a massive protest.
