ASUU to declare one-month warning strike

There are indications that the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU will begin strike any time this week.

It was  gathered that a meeting of the National body of ASUU, together with all Zonal and chapter Chairmen has been on in a location in Lagos state over the failure of government to meet its demands.

TIMENEWSNG also gathered that a decision for a strike has already been reached by agreement is yet to be concluded if it will be a warning or full blown strike.

ASUU had asked chapters last week between Monday and Wednesday to chose a day to suspend lectures as part of their displeasure with government and mobilisation strategy ahead of a down tool.

ASUU has described president mohammadu Buhari’s pledge to the National inter-religious council, NIREC as a mere ‘,heat-say’, since there has been no circular backing the pronouncement.

ASUU among other things wants government to release white paper on the credibility test conducted on its own created Universities Transperancy and Accountability Solution, UTAS, a replacement for integrated payroll and personnel information system,IPPIS.

ASUU is also asking for payment of Earned Allowance and over 13 months salaries to its members.

ASUU has also asked government to renegotiate the 2009 FGN/ASUU agreement among others.

Meanwhile, since the latest agitation by ASUU, there has been no reaction from the relevant ministries and agencies of government.

Since ASUU Suspended almost 10 months strike in December 2020 in the Peak of the outbreak of corona virus, it has only been issuing ultimatum, waiting on government to do the perceived needful
