Race to the Ake-Ayoba Government House in Ekiti State is getting more interesting as contenders for the 2018 governorship poll continue to rise in number. The newest though not new in Ekiti politics is Micheal Opeyemi Bamidele popularly known as “MOB”. He declared his ambition at his Iyin Residence while speaking with journalists. MOB was quoted to have answered in the affirmative of not only contesting but sure of victory this time around. When asked about his ambition, MOB said “Unequivocally we are in to win the race”, confirming his participation in the forthcoming race.
Opeyemi Bamidele is a close ally of APC National leader Bola Tinubu. He served under Bola Tinubu as commissioner before coming to Ekiti as governorship aspirant. Political intrigues made MOB settle for House of Representives ticket in 2011 but had to defect to Labour Party in 2014 to actualise his governorship ambition which he lost.
MOB came back to APC in a grand style after the 2015 guber election but tongues have been wagging since then of his ambition to rule Ekiti state when the opportunity comes up.
