This development once again raised the question of where a filling station should be cited. and in furtherance of this question, the governor at a monthly programme on sunday evening revoked the certificates of Occupancy for all filling stations in Ekiti state. asking the dealers for revalidation and possibly citing their stations to a safe area out of the town.
But in the argument of Suleiman Akinbami, for every filling station cited in a less developed area twenty years ago, such places are now urban area, which makes the citing of filling stations to a less developed area not tenable as such laces will also get developed some time.
Upon hearing the governor’s order, the leadership of the Ekiti state petrol dealers association directed all its members to close shops in protest against the government’s move.
Though the bite is not yet felt really much in town for the now, but between the end of Monday and Tuesday morning, the reality will surely dawn on commuters and other business sectors as we wait who blinks first between the state government and this enterpreneurs.
