A Federal High Court in Abuja has granted bail to the former Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, Andrew Yakubu in the sum of 300 million naira with two sureties.
Justice Ahmed Mohammed in a ruling on the bail application ordered that the sureties must have landed properties in Abuja and also swear to affidavit of means.
The former NNPC boss is being prosecuted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on a six-count charge bordering on alleged fraud and false declaration of assets.
The charges against Yakubu also include the alleged 9.7 million dollars and 74,000 pounds the operatives of the EFCC claimed that they recovered from the defendant’s house in Kaduna state on February 3.
