Federal Poly Ede Shut, As Unions Demand Payment Of Entitlement

The Non Academics workers at the federal polytechnic Ede, In Osun State are now on strike.

The industrial action which is to protest non paymemt of workers’ entitlement according to the chairman Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Polytechnics SSANIP, Johnson Adekanola, is indefinite.

TIME NEWS Correspondent reports that the workers in their number Monday Morning embarked on a protest round the school carrying placards with various inscriptions.

Their grouse is that the school management has since 2014 stopped the implementation of the reviewed scheme of service as introduced by the National Board for Technical Education NBTE in 2013.

Chairmen of both Unions, Johnson Adekanola and Akintola George accused the school management of deliberately not implementing the salary scheme across all cadres and announced that the strike embarked upon by their members will not end until something is done.

While reacting to the claims of the Unions, the acting Rector of the school, Dr Authur Ajah said the scheme had to be  suspended, because the school, no longer has the capacity to implement the scheme for workers from level 11 downward.

He also said the workers were not oblivious to the fact that there has not been any financial backing from the federal government, since the scheme was introduced, as promised.
