Lawmaker Partners NGO To Give Free Medical Care To Constituents

Over 500 residents of ile ife town in osun state benefited from the Free health care programme of the Lawmaker representing Osun East Senatorial District  federal Constituency ,senator Babajide Omoworare.

Tagged “Ilera Loro” meaning “Health is Wealth “, the beneficiaries had the opportunity to be tested for various ailments ranging from Diabetes, Eye issues , Malaria, Prostrate cancer, Kidney Failure test amongst others even as free drugs and glasses were  given to the people.

The programme which happens to be the brain child of senator Omoworare through which he reaches out his constituency quarterly also partnered with a NON governmental Organization A Life Alive Kidney Foundation to test and screen the patients  and to create awareness and sensitize them on causes and effects of Renal Failure.
With several doctors on hand to screen the patients,it was a time for men and women, old and young in ile – ife to access free health care without inhibition.
SENATOR BABAJIDE OMOWORARE

Senator Babajide Omo‎worare while speaking with journalists said “‎we are focusing on renal failure because a lot of people do not know when they are have it,there are some salient killers health wise and we need to address it.The feedback I got today shows that we have a lot of people walking on our street that are almost walking corpses. The reason is that people.don’t bother to check their vitals, they don’t know what their blood pressure is or whether they have diabetes or any other disease, so what we’ve tried to do while concentrating on renal failure for kidney challenges, we are also looking at prostrate cancer for our elderly people and we are just generally doing checks, eyes and all necessary checks  “he said.

“‎This is not the first time we are doing this and we just feel it is very necessary to sensitize and galvanize support for this programme for  our people to realize that they must check themselves from time to time. “Ilera Loro “means ” Health is wealth “,its only a useless community that will not care for those who are sick, the more able people we have, the better for the community even the better for the government. Because then people will be able to work and pay their taxes. So I believe that we will continue to review this exercise monthly and if possible quarterly.”the senator assured.
“Speaking on the need for the federal Government to discourage brain drain, Senator Omoworare said “I’m sure there is a gap the has to be filled, I know the government is doing a lot about the health sector, we have been speaking about this and the chairman senate committee on health has been asking for a lot more money for that sector, beyond what was proposed with a view to covering the field ‎,yet I’m sure the Senate will try to give a lit more money to the health sector but I’m still saying that it is still not going to be enough, it will take some time, it will take strategic planning between three to four years of dedicated hard-work before we can properly cover the field. What is more worrisome that need urgent attention is the food hands that we have have all moved on to greener pasture and the government has to find a way to discourage this, it’s eating deep into our health sector and creating a very big gap difficult to fill.some of those who have even traveled want to come back to Nigeria but they will kit come back when the economy is not good, when there is still recession, so we just have a lot of work to do in other sectors that will also have impact in the health sector.”senator Omoworare emphasized .
The beneficiaries of this health programme could not hide their joy as they bared their minds on the grate impact the health programme has in their lives.
“Tawakalitu mojoyin says she came for eye test she said “this is not the first time I am benefiting
from this programme, the senator has really done well for us his people, at this time when everything is hard for the assessment where will I get free consultation for my eyes? Now I have come here and after the test, they have given me my glasses, I am so happy “she exclaimed.
Mrs Olubodun Abimbola also came. To see the ophthalmologist, she says she was diagnosed of having cataracts and the NGO has assured that a surgery will be carried out on her .
She says “I am.so grateful for this wonderful gesture, it shows that some people.still have the I yeast of the assessment at heart. Doing a free medical check is a very good project for this community. Now I have been promised that cataract will be taken care of, what more can I ask.God For ” she asked  .
