Juan Mata’s lone goal at Old Trafford helped Manchester United defeat FC Rostov to qualify for the Europa League quarter-final.
Jose Mourinho’s side came into the second leg having drawn 1 – 1 in Russia but their wastefullness infront of goal almost proved to be their downfall.
Mata prodded home 20 minutes from time at the end of a well-worked move from the hosts to send the Red Devils through.
United were dominant throughout, playing with a back three and lots of attackers as with Rostov offering little attacking threat and generally relying on defensive stubbornness and good fortune.
