GoalScorer Victor Okeji Happy With Part In Osun United”Vital” Win.

By Olayinka Olawole.

Victor Okeji admitted he was having a “stinker” of a match before his superb goal in the seventeenth minute helped Osun United secure a 1-0 win over an adamant Delta Force Football Club in Osogbo.

An early chance from Tosin Omoyele appeared to be the start of things to come for the Omoluabi Giants, but Duke Udi’s men failed to make it count as they kept on putting pressure on the visitors till Okeji’s acrobatic effort made the difference.

Despite incessant pressure from the visitors, they found it so hard to make a comeback in the game as defensive pair of Adeyemi Kehinde and Emmanuel Osigwe were too strong for Omyeamobi Kingsley and Olaoke Yomi to get an equaliser.

An ecstatic Okeji said he was glad over the win, but thought they would have scored more goals in the game.

” It was a difficult game, but am glad we got the maximum points in the game. On a very wet day we found it hard to keep the target especially in the second half. We kept on to our first half goal and tried to score more, but it never came in.

” This goal is an emotional one for me and it happens to be my first in front of the home crowd. The goal is also one of my best in my career and I can’t be more happy to do it on our home ground.

” I saw the ball coming through a fling from Tosin Omeyele and I thought of using my head, but again I knew the ball wouldn’t go far, if I used my head and I ended up doing a bicycle kick which went just below the upper bar to beat Isah Ismail in goal for Delta Force”

With this victory, Osun United now have six (6) points from four (4) games and will now travel to Lagos next week to face First Bank FC in the week five (5) encounter of the Nigerian National League.
