Tragedy struck in Ado-Ekiti Wednesday evening as unknown gunmen killed an officer of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps at the state capital.
The officer identified as Sunday Afolabi was allegedly shot dead by unknown assailant on the Deeper Life, Afao road in Ado Ekiti around 7:45 pm.
Confirming the incident to our correspondent in a telephone interview in Ado-Ekiti, the Public Relations officer of the corps, Tolu Afolabi explained that the deceased was killed by unknown person contrary to the rumour making the round that the officer was shot dead by police.
He noted that investigation is ongoing to unravel the mystery surrounding the death of the officer.
For the past few months ,there has been cases of unknown gunmen killing security agents in the state which has also resulted to the re-emergence of ‘stop and search’ in some part of the state capital.
