Tempers flare as Lagos Government prepares to relocate Computer Village

Following the announcement by the Lagos State Government through the Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development to relocate the most popular gadgets market in Nigeria, Computer Village Ikeja, to Katangowa in Agbado Oke-Odo LCDA, Mainlanders have aired their opinions on the decision.
You would recall that the announcement was made by the State Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Wasiu Anifowose, on Tuesday, April 25, 2017.
Expressing their thoughts via microblogging site, Twitter, Mainlanders opined that the decision was not well thought by the government. While some disclosed that the new location is too far, some others pointed government’s attention to the state of roads leading to the new site.
To Otunba Sugar, “the government needs to rethink! Kantagowa is not central to anywhere and not easily accessible by all like the present computer village.”
Ajayi Damilola tweeted that “something is wrong with some policy makers in this country. Who has time and energy to be going to unknown locations?” while Linda Ochugbua said “I thought about it, I feel it’s so far away from the people.”
On his part, Arowolo Stunner said “this is outrageous! How can you relocate your tech hub away from the centre?”
Another user, Julius Sodiya said “Katangowa sef never see space trade. They now want to move computer village go there…like seriously. Dem don sell the place be dat to who?” while Alaba Otukoya said “total rubbish. Why can’t they redevelop that place instead? Moving them is not the best option at all.”
Meanwhile, a user, Oluwadamilare stated that “computer village did not come about by LASG design. Many of the houses are privately owned but used as shops instead. Issa NO.”
Stockman Nigeria concluded that “good or bad, we shall be watching this development with keen interest.”
In addition, some users were quick to remind the government of a similar decision in the past where traders were relocated at the popular Tejuosho-Yaba market.
“Where is that place? you guys ruined Yaba market, now you want to ruin computer village?”, Gian tweeted.
Other users, Kayode and Ogisi Rita said “this will be another Tejuosho market. Lagos with fishy brain” and “Till dis day i am yet to recover from the loss Yaba/Tejuosho market” via their handles.
