The All Progressives Congress (APC) in the State of Osun has described the allegations of threat to life by Deputy Speaker, House of Representatives, Hon. Lasun Yusuf as unfounded and baseless security concerns.
This is contained in a statement issued by the party chairman Prince Gboyega Famoodu and signed by the party Director of publicity Barr Kunle Oyatomi.
Famoodun said Lasun Yussuf accusation “is a wolf cry and political gerry-mandering which cannot amount to a threat to life. There is no fragment of truth in all Lasun claimed, and it appears to have been the product of a very sick minded person”.
“We hereby state unequivocally that the Deputy Speaker and his band of delusional propagandists are mere opportunists clustering to the death of our late party leader and illustrious son of Ede, Senator Isiaka Adeleke to make smokescreen names and score undue political relevance for themselves.
To all intents and purposes, the deputy speaker has once again demonstrated to the teeming populace that he is mischievous and a mere opportunist who lacks the deserving respect for the dead and cannot stand by the etiquette and traditional norms of our rich cultural heritage as Yoruba speaking people”, the APC Chairman said.
The party chairman also said that the claim by Yusuf that himself and late senator Isiaka Adelele were the only people directed to suspend their campaigns until the electoral umpire gives go ahead, was a lie.
“Setting the records straight, the executive of the Osun State APC in line with the tenets of democratic principles entrenched in the ideology of our great party, and in order not to distract the business of developmental governance and fulfilment of our electioneering promises as contained in our manifesto issued an advisory notice a couple of months ago to all intending governorship aspirants for the 2018 elections to wait until there are clear guidelines and directives by INEC, as such, the claim by Lasun Yusuf that himself and the late Adeleke were singled out is a blatant lie and a template to deceit.
‘Alas, without searching further, Hon. Yusuf has without any iota of doubt has revealed himself to us that he is the chief sponsor and promoter of the irritating blackmail against the government of the state of Osun that the late senator of osun west senatorial district was poisoned which was a resultant effect of his death. This in its entirety is illogical and irresponsible.
‘We are poised to believe this outburst must be as a result of the outcast behavioural tendencies of Lasun Yusuf in OSUN APC after distancing himself from the activities of the party.
We equally stand in the position of the Adeleke family, having affirmed that they are still waiting for the comprehensive report of the autopsy carried out on the first civilian governor of osun state.
‘In the spirit of this sorrowful loss, unfortunate death, and more remarkably as a sign of respect to the soul of the deceased, we shall henceforth decline to join issues with self-seeking politician, who is presently arrogating undue popularity to himself.
‘We only wish to advise the lawmaker to simply retrace his steps if truly he is still a member of the Osun APC.
Hon Yusuf had on Saturday through the head of the constituency relations officer, Niyo Ogunsioa alleged receiving series of threats to his life.

Meanwhile, The engineer supervising the construction work ongoing at the Osogbo Eid praying ground, Prince Teslim Latona has described the allegations made by Hon Lasun Yusuff that a former commissioner for special duties in the state, Dr Basiru Ajibola mobilised thugs to stop work at the site as nothing but lies.
Prince Latona while reacting to the claims said, it is sad that Hon Yusuf could descend so low in using the death of Late Adeleke as a means to score cheap political gain.
‘My attention has been drawn to the press statement made by one Aderemi Suleiman Ajala, the public relation officer to Mr. Lasun Yussuf (Mr. because Lasun has not acted honourable by wanting to use the death of a cultured statesman for personal benefit), in respect to the perimeter fencing, ablution rooms being constructed by my principal, Dr Ajibola Basiru at the Osogbo Eid praying ground sited at Oke Baale Osogbo”
He explained that the construction is indeed being done by Dr Basiru, whom he said had mobilised builders to the site since early April, as opposed d claims that the construction is being done by Hon Yusuf.
“As at the time we mobilized to the site on 9th of April 2017, the land was empty and we met nobody on the site. The construction commenced immediately without any resistance from anybody.
Work has being going on peacefully since the day we commenced till date without any issue of violence and intimidation”
“So, where did Mr Aderemi Suleiman get the story of thugs and hoodlums being on the said Eid and attacking people from? Or does he want to call someone like Asiwaju Tunde Badmus, who commended the level of work at the site, appreciated the efforts of Dr. Basiru and even gave money to the workers as hoodlum? Or,Is it a passionate man, who came to donate 5 blocks as his own contribution to the house of Almighty Allah as hoodlums?
His Royal Majesty Ataoja of Osogbo also sent the League of Imam to ascertain the level of work at the Eid ground. The Chief Imam of Osogbo and others who came to inspect the project and they were full of prayers for Dr Ajibola Basiru for taking the initiative by leading efforts of actualizing what many only dreamt of. Not to mention the Osogbo Muslim communities, BabaLoja and some other community leaders from far and near whom have in various ways, shown solidarity and support for the project.
It appears that the intention of Mr. Lasun is to gain cheap popularity by laying claims to the building of the Eid ground. If that is not the case, why did he wait till the unfortunate demise of Senator Adeleke to whip up unnecessary sentiments? If the account in the press report is correct, was the incident reported to the police? At least Oke Baale police station is not even up to a stone throw to the Eid prayer ground and the case should have been reported immediately to the Police for necessary actions.
Latona wondered where the story of hoodlums harassing people emanated from and challenged Hon Yusuf to come forth with
“These allegations on this Eid and hoodlums emanated from the mischievous act of Mr. Lasun and few conscripted Osogbo indigenes who want to use Osogbo Eid for political gains and to enrich their own pockets.
The last time I checked, the community Mr. Lasun Yussuf comes from don’t even have a befitting Eid praying ground. This remind me of the Yoruba adage that says ‘’ ILE LA NTI KO ESO RODE’’. Let him start his charity work from his immediate community.
I don’t know why Mr Lasun Yussuf and his co travellers will be using the death of Asiwaju of Ede, Sen Isiaka Adeleke (MAY HIS GENTLE SOUL REST IN PEACE) as an avenue for political selfish interest of his. That they have descended to this level is indicative of their desperation for relevance, even if it means dancing on the grave of our notable leader, whose contributions to the development of the State is worthy of emulation” He concluded
