The coroner inquest set up by the Osun state government into the death of its first civilian governor, senator Isiaka Adetunji Adeleke has begun sitting, today in Osogbo.

Presided over by the head of coroner, chief magistrate Olusegun Ayilara, a total of four witnesses including the deputy governor of the state, Mrs Titi Laoye-Tomori appeared before the coroner.

The deputy governor who disclosed that she decided to waive her immunity to appear before the coroner because of the importance of the late senator and the controversy that trailed his death,  disclosed that she abandoned the already prepared seat for her,and sat at the same table with the deceased as a mark of respect.

Mrs Laoye-Tomori in her testimony said she didn’t offer late Adeleke any edibles, since she also didn’t eat anything ,contrary to rumours making the round that she offered him meat at the party they both attended a day before his demise.

She stated that the late Politician ate a morsel from an uncovered plate of mixture of fried, jollof and rice that was served him at the party.

Mrs Laoye-Tomori said she received the news of Adelekes death the following day with so much disbelief, saying, the claims that she has something to do with his death, is not only devastating but, also saddening.

However, the testimony given by the APC chieftain, whose party the Late Politician and Mrs Laoye-Tomori both met, Chief Amobi Yinusa, contradicts the deputy governor’s account.

Chief Akanbi told the coroner that the late Politician did not eat at his party.

Other witnesses who took stand at the coroner, were  the chief medical director of LAUTECH TCH, Dr Akeem Olawale-Lasisi, who said a number of drugs were intravenously administered on the deceased in excesses, including an outlawed drug, called Analgin, and the doctor of a private hospital where Late Adeleke was formally pronounced dead, Dr Adebisi Adenle.

The controversy and unrest that trailed the death of Senator Adeleke death, informed the setting up of the inquest by the state government, which his family members have vowed to not participate in.

Meanwhile, the coroner has summoned the pathologist who conducted autopsy on the body of the late Adeleke and the state Commissioner of police to appear before it on Tuesday.
