An Ekiti State High Court Sitting in Ado Ekiti has sentenced a local government staff, Ojo Ayodele to life imprisonment for raping a minor.
The Presiding Judge, Justice Oluwatoyin Abodunde in her judgment explained that the accused person was found guilty as charged.
Ayodele, a driver to a foremost traditional ruler in Ijero-Ekiti committed the offence in Ijero-Ekiti and was first arraigned in February, 2016 for offence of abduction, having held the minor in his house for 21 days and sexually assaulted the under aged girl.
The Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) in the state, Gbemiga Daramola,
prosecuted the case on behalf of the State while the convict was represented by his counsel, Tosin Osundahunsi.
The prosecution called seven witnesses during the trial and tendered
exhibits which include statements of the victim and
medical report which showed that the victim was raped.
