NWPL: Ikoyo Happy For Scoring Her First Goal Of the Season

Osun Babes vivacious winger Ikoyo Rejoice has revealed her joy at scoring her first goal for the Omoluabi Queens in the ongoing Nigeria Women Premier League.

In a 2-0 win over Saadatu Kolo Amazons in Minna, Ikoyo scored the second of the game after she beat three Saadatu’s defenders, including the goalkeeper with her head after receiving a long pass from captain Esther Elijah.

An excited Ikoyo told the club’s media team after the game how fulfilled she was to have opened her goalscoring account and felt she should have done that a long time before now.

” The truth is that, I am grateful to God for my first goal of the season and grateful to all my team-mates for their continuous supports. I know I should have opened my goalscoring accounts before now, but it never came until it did in Minna.

” Sometimes I get unlucky with my efforts hitting the woodwork or the goalkeeper saving them, but with this goal, I am very optimistic more will follow.

” We as a team are intent on making a swift recovery back to a great form and with the away victory, we can only aim for more wins. We believe in our abilities as a team and we are young and want to achieve more this season for our fans and those who have been supporting us.

” We need to continue from where we stopped when the second round resumes next month. We are looking forward to keeping the momentum and continue winning as our main aim is to qualify for the super four in Lagos. She wrapped up.

After the win on wednesday, the club sit on the fifth (5th) position, gathering ten (10) points from seven (7)games, six behind current leaders Nasarawa Amazons. The league will resume back on the 7th of next month.
