The new Vice Chancellor of the Obafemi Awolowo University, ile-ife, Prof. Eyitope Ogunbodede says, his vision is to develop the institution into the incubator for national policy research and development.
Prof. Ogunbodede who spoke while delivering his inauguration speech said the goal is achievable with the resources the university is endowed with.
The inauguration of the new vice chancellor of the Obafemi Awolowo University, ile-ife, Prof. Eyitope Ogunbodede was held at the Odudua Hall of the institution and it was witnessed by a huge crowd of both academics and non academics staff, including the students and other well wishers.
Prof. Ogunbidede said his administration will encourage the creation and promotion of innovative ideas, projects and programmes.
He also promised to encourage and translate to action relevant researches that focus on resolving to national challenges and impacting on national policies and development.
While the outgoing acting vice chancellor, Prof. Anthony Elujoba pledged continued support for the new vice chancellor, the chairman of Council, Dr. Yemi Ogunbiyi express confidence in the ability of the new helmsman.
The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi who described the transition of administration in the university as spiritual, rounded off the inauguration with royal blessing.
Prof. Eyitope Ogunbodede, a professor of Preventive and Community Dentistry emerged as the vice chancellor elect in a keenly contested interactive exercise.
His appointment was confirmed and he became the 11th substantive vice chancellor of Obafemi Awolowo university.
