Succour, As Prison Inmates Get 700 Mattresses In Osun

The Nigerian Prison Service has encouraged well meaning Nigerians to support Government in making prisons across the country more habitable for inmates.

The Controller General Of the Service, Mr Jafaru Ahme stated this in Ilesa while receiving seven hundred mattresses and pillows of the same number worth millions of naira donated to Ilesa Prisions.

Represented by DCP Pius Aramude, Mr Ahmed said the needs of all prisons in the Country could not be provided by government alone hence the reason for philanthropists and private Organisations to make input.

While commending the donor of the items for paying fines for the release of over two hundred inmates, the controller General encouraged the inmates to be of good conduct and use the materials judiciously.

Earlier, donor of the matresses and pillows, Chief Deji Adeleke said the gesture was not political but on humanitarian ground and promised to replicate same in Ife Prisons.

Chief Adeleke who was represented at the event encouraged Nigerians not to look down on any inmate but to welcome them back with open heart when they are released.

Some of the inmates who spoke with Radio Nigeria appreciated the donor and appealed to the State Governor to grant state pardon to inmates at Ilesa prisons for prisons decongestion.
