The political stage in Osun state ahead the 2018 gubernatorial poll is gradually getting set with political actors using every show and opportunity to sell themselves and even go to the length of throwing jab at each other.
Oroki day held on saturday is a yearly celebration that brings sons and daughters of Osogbo together and this serves as the venue for former deputy governor of the state and senator, Iyiola Omisore which was invited and the Titi Laoye-Tomori, the state deputy governor to slug it out.
Senator Iyiola Omisore of the PDP was quick to use the opportunity to intimate Osogbo residents of his governorship ambition declaring governor Aregbesola’s administration as frivolous.
Omisore speaking to the crowd said “I understand your plight I share your pains and the pains of the entire people of Osun state under the administration of APC led government, I want to assure you that PDP will assuage your sufferings and return the old good days.”
While being tasked to make his donation, He also took a swipe at the modulated salary scheme put in place by the state government ” as you all know that i’m a retiree in Osun, and that the present administration has not been paying all retirees including those in service, I therefore donate a sum of #2m.”
But the Osun state deputy governor Mrs Titi Laoye-Tomori was quick to reply Omisore saying the government of Rauf Aregbesola was not frivolous,stressing that the achievements of Aregbesola’s administration has surpassed that of any other regime in the state’s history.
Tomori said that the statement by Omisore in which he castigated Aregbesola led APC government was out of place and that the current administration in the state has done well, particularly in terms of physical infrastructures.
“The current administration in Osun State has surpassed what successive administrations in the state did since the creation of the state. We are not frivolous in the APC and we are not reckless financially. We spend public funds judiciously to develop the state.”
“Aregbesola government has performed excellently in terms of provision of physical infrastructure and social amenities and the social protection programmes of our government were adjudged best by
reputable international organizations.”
“Ours is not a government that will siphon the public fund and share remnant of the stolen money to people to appease them. The statement by Senator Omisore here today concerning the issue of the retirees in this state and other things he mentioned were unbefitting”, the Deputy Governor said.
