Osun state pensioners under the umbrella of 2011/2012 pensioners forum had once again taken up the state governor Rauf Aregbesola over his inability to pay up their pension, gratuities and salary arrears as alleged.
The pensioners at a press conference in Osogbo the Osun state capital also took the commissioner for information and strategy Lani Baderinwa to the cleaners for allegedly calling pensioners nuisance.
Chairman of the pensioners forum Omoniyi Ilesanmi said they decided to celebrate Aregbesola’s 3rd year in office in his failure to meet the various demands of pensioners and senior citizens.
“Ogbeni Rauf has to be celebrated for being the first governor in Osun state to owe Pensioners Gratuity of between 2008 and 2012 without any consideration for their welfare. Ogbeni Aregbesola is being celebrated for his resolve to rehabilitate roads at one billion naira per kilometre at the expense of Pensioners’ lives.”
The pensioners also accused the governor for sending hoodlums after them at their last protest saying the governor who defaulted in paying the outstanding arrears of pensioners was however able to pay the severance package of his former commissioners and aides who served for just three years to the tune of fifty million Naira per person.
The forum of Pensioners thus ask governor Rauf Aregbesola to pay up the outstanding gratuity, pension and salary arrears with immediate stoppage of half pension and salary. He was also asked to begin full payment of monthly pension and salary without delay. These they say may change “the perceptions of people towards Rauf Aregbesola’s government as that which witnessed the highest number of protests in the history of Osun state.”
Efforts to speak with the commissioner for information and strategy Lani Baderinwa as at the time of filing this report proved abortive as he was said to be in a crucial meeting ,promising to get back as soon as he leaves the meeting.
Is there any road that worth 1billion naira in Osun State?off course no…so this is dubious act of this day goverment in Osun State…there is no major road that this government has completed in the last 7years..apart from rural roads done by LGAs…Is there any sector that this government has succeeded in the last 7years? OFFCOUSE NO,Agriculture No,Education No,Road networking/transportation (Air-port) No,Economically No…..let people with normal sense come to Osun State and do neutral analysis and see if these facts are real or not? This government is based on propagandal and camouflaging….if not so how can incumbent government loose wofully in the last senotrial election ..9:1 i.e incumbent goverment won 1LGA out of 10LGA this is a reality not falsehood news.
They always complain about not being paid, the 2011/2012 pensioners but have they been to Edo state lately to see what is happening there?Mr omoniy talking about the Governor and his achievement shows how much he appreciate his works, but putting it in a wrong content is what makes him contradict himself.Pensions and gratuity will definitely be paid, but i feel they should respect themselves and stop all the childish act and wait for their pay, moreover most of them have started receiving their money
This same 2011/2012 section of pensioners are at it. They are always the ones going around protesting and painting the governor bad.The president of the State of Osun's pensioners chapter should sanction these people who have become a tool to the opposition party. This Omoniyi man shot himself in the foot by even listing one of the great achievements of Ogbeni which are the roads. Are you saying that you don't mind if the people die everyday from bad roads as long as your selfish ends are met? This man is a liar and we're tired of this 2011/2012 set of pensioners
