Osun Doctors Suspend Strike as Health Workers Continue Action

Medical doctors in Osun state who had since last Monday gone on a warning strike, have resumed work.

The chairman of the Nigeria Medical Association NMA in the state Dr. Tokunbo Olajumoke says the strike was called off because the state government has begun talks with the.

He however stated that only clinical services will be rendered in all state hospitals, as no new cases would be admitted.

Olajumoke expresses optimism that the government will live up to their expectations and accede to the doctors demands to avoid a total breakdown in the state health sector.

The agitations of the doctors include but not limited to issues bothering on Salary payment, over taxation, lack of adequate medical and infrastructure facilities in hospitals across the state.

Meanwhile, the premises of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology LAUTECH Teaching Hospital Osogbo, remain deserted owing to the ongoing nationwide strike of the health workers under the Joint Health Sector Unions JOHESU.
