While the nation is getting set for another round of elections, a new bloc of politically inclined youths tagged The Intellectual Revolution Group has said the time to up the stage is now in building a veritable platform for the youths to bring the much desired change in the polity.
This, the IRG as it is known, says the system revolution its preaching is only achievable through the ballot,stressing that it is poised not only to contest every subsequent election starting from Osun state , but to field and support candidates not based on party leanings but on ideological basis.
Rising from its first physical meeting in Osogbo, Osun state capital,leader of the Osun state chapter Comrade Ajayi Olabisi said “Our focus will be to share our ideas about how to move Nigeria forward economically and socially, with heavy focus being placed on the role of youths in the political landscape of Nigeria.
IRG wants to put an end to the “winner takes all” politics in Nigeria and to have youths properly represented and catered for in national policies. We are the most important element used during the electioneering process and that gives hope that we are indispensable in the polity, hence we taking the bulk by the horn.”
The group’s coordinator in Osogbo axis, comrade Abdulfattah Busari said that IRG hopes to run for the 2018 governorship election in Osun state and the general election in 2019 with the aim and objective of good governance, progress of the Nigerian youth and betterment of old and young.
The first National convention of the group hoping to metamorphose into a political party will be held in Abuja on the 30th of September.
