Senator Buruji Kashamu representing Ogun East at the Nigerian Senate has been expelled by the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Nigeria’s main opposition party.
The Ogun East lawmaker was expelled along three (3) other members of the PDP in Ogun State, Southwest Nigeria on Monday, July 23.
The spokesperson of the opposition party, Kola Ologbondiyan, announced the expulsion at the end of an emergency NEC meeting in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital.
Those alongside Senator Kashamu are Bayo Adebayo, Segun Sarki and Sanimu Sodipo; all from Ogun State.
Senator Kashamu, a supporter of erstwhile National Chairman of the PDP, Ali Sheriff, is wanted in the United States for drug-related offences.
The Ogun East lawmaker has repeatedly claimed he is innocent and has resisted moves to extradite him
