Dambazau, Amaechi, others for Peace Scholars’ Abuja Conference

All is set for the Annual General Conference of the Society for Peace Studies and Practice holding in Abuja, the nation’s capital.

The conference with the theme “Violent Conflicts and the Challenges of Peacebuilding in Contemporary Nigeria”, holds between Monday and Wednesday (9th and 11th July, 2018) at the National Open University Campus, Jabi, Abuja.

A statement issued by the National Publicity Secretary of Society for Peace Studies and Practice, Dr (Mrs) Abiola Adimula, said Minister of Interior, Lt. General Abdulrahaman Dambazau (rtd) and Minister of Transportation, Rt. Hon. Rotimi Amaechi would be Chairman and Special Guest of Honour respectively at the opening ceremonies on Monday at 10am.

The statement said the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Yusuf Buratai, will
declare the conference open while Emeritus Prof. Godwin Sogolo and Rtd Col. Ola Mejeyeogbe, would serve as Keynote Speakers.

It noted that the conference would discuss in depth security issues and violent conflicts in the country and suggest possible solutions for policy design.

The statement said erudite scholars from various fields of study would present well researched papers on sub-titles relating to the main theme, maintaining that the conference would also feature a workshop on Alternative Dispute Resolution, Special Sessions and Induction of new Members at a gala night, among other events.

The statement added that, delegates in peace studies from tertiary institutions, peace practitioners, security personnel and others, within and outside the country are expected to arrive Abuja (tomorrow) Sunday 8th July, 2018.
