PVC: Declare Friday work-free Day;Assembly aspirant urges KWSG

Founder of The Adekunle Oyedepo Foundation and House of Assembly aspirant, Adekunle Oyedepo has urged the Kwara State government to declare Friday, a public holiday for civil servants in the State to participate in the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise.

Oyedepo who is aspiring to represent Irepodun constituency at the State Assembly, said this is to allow workers who have not registered for their Permanent Voter Card (PVC) do so before the August 31 deadline set by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

He said the public holiday if eventually granted by the government, would also enable public workers who had registered for the PVCs, but are yet to collect them, do so.

The aspiring lawmaker also called on eligible Kwarans and residents of the State, who are yet to register to visit the nearest INEC registration centre and take advantage of the remaining few days to register for their PVC.

Oyedepo said this would enable them participate in the forthcoming 2019 general elections and elect their preferred candidates.

It would be recalled that the ongoing CVR exercise which was earlier scheduled to end on August 17, was extended by another two weeks by INEC to enable more Nigerians register for their PVCs ahead of next year’s general elections.
