Barely few 4 days to the conduct of Feb.16 presidential election, configured sensitive materials have been razed at the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC office in Awka, Anambra.
The fire gutted two containers where the materials are stored.
Confirming the incident to journalists in Awka, INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner, Anambra State, Dr. Nwachukwu Orji lamented that the commission would be faced with serious challenge for the conduct of the elections.
He described the inferno as unfortunate incident.
Dr. Orji regretted that his personnel had just completed configuring the smart card reader machines, before the shocking fire incident.
On whether the inferno would disrupt Saturday presidential and National assembly elections, Dr. Orji said he was yet to ascertain the level of damage, noting that he will make the details available as soon as the finding is completed.
