Sarri Admits Talks Over His Chelsea Future Are Inevitable After Man City Humiliation

Sarri admits talks over his Chelsea future are inevitable after Man City humiliation.

Chelsea suffered their heaviest defeat in 28 years when they were beaten 6-0 by Manchester City on Sunday afternoon.

It was the worst result for the Blues in any competition since their 7-0 Premier League loss to Brian Clough’s Nottingham Forest in April 1991 at the City Ground.

Asked whether his position at the club will be under scrutiny, Sarri told Sky Sports: “I think that is right. I am in charge of the team so, it’s right.”

Sarri was then asked whether there will be talks with the club about his future, and said: “I don’t know. Not at the moment. But I think that will happen, it’s normal. It’s something that we need to do.”

Pressed on whether he expects specific discussions within the next week, Sarri responded: “I don’t know, you’ll have to ask the club.”

Chelsea struggled to put the coach’s ‘Sarri-ball’ method of high pressing into action at the Etihad as Man City pinned them back in the first half.

Reflecting on whether his players can actually carry out his pressing tactics on the pitch, Sarri added: “No. Not always.

“Today a big difference between the two teams was the intensity of pressing. They pressed very well with high intensity and we were not able to do it.”
