Dons Urge Muslim Professionals To Uphold Workplace Ethics

A symposium organized to admonish Muslim professionals on upholding their workplace ethics.
Muslim professionals have been urged to maintain workplace ethics in their professions in order to sustain meaningful growth and development.
A symposium was organized by the professional department of Majlis Tajdeed Tadhamunil Muslimeen Association (MTTM).
The symposium which came up at Western Hall, Oyo State Government Secretariat, Agodi, Ibadan featured different professionals from all the states in the Southern region of Nigeria.
At the programme, a globally acclaimed innovative researcher, Professor Ahmed Adedeji, Director General, Foresight Institute of Research and Translation, Ibadan, Nigeria was celebrated as the 2019 Professional Icon.
During the symposium, an expert in human resources management, Mr. Kafaru Mukaila from Nigerian Eagle Flour Mills Ltd. urged Muslims to make sure that they maintain excellent performance in all their fields of profession. Mr. Kafaru urged Muslims further not to be satisfied with being at the helm of affairs alone, rather they should endeavour to occupy all necessary key positions and exhibit the traits of excellent performance Islam has taught them.
During an interview session, Mr. Kafaru also advised Muslim professionals to stick to Quran and Sunnah as both are the primary sources of code of ethics for all Muslims. “Quran and Sunnah have shown complete ethics between the right and the wrong” he said.

Also speaking at the symposium, Professor Lateef Agbaje from Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso raised concern on the qualities of graduates that Nigerian institutions are producing in recent time. Professor Lateef affirmed that there is a mutual disgust between the society and the graduates that Nigerian institutions are producing. Meanwhile, this will have negative impact on societal development.
Professor Lateef frowned at the government for not releasing adequate funding for universities as this has resulted to more intakes of students by university management than what available facilities can cater for. “Higher institutions are forced to have more intakes of prospective students than what their available resources can handle because they are forced to generate more internally generated revenues” Professor Lateef posited.
While advising Muslim professionals to maintain work ethics in their offices, Alhaji Abdur-Razaq Abdus-Salaam Awayewaserere, the Director of Public/Cooperate Affairs, Voice of Nigeria, Lagos advised Muslim professionals to shun temptation of opposite sex and corruption as in totality. Alhaji Abdur-Razaq suggested that faith monitoring is the only key saviour that can aid Muslim professionals to shun unethical habits at work and succeed in their career growth and development.
In his welcome address  to the symposium, the President of the professional association, Engr. AbdRasheed Anifowose admonished the Muslim professionals to rise up to their divinely assigned responsibilities in making our workplaces ethically healthy for meaningful productivity and national development.
The programme was also attended by Professor Mondiu Durowoju of LAUTECH, Barr. Olawale Abdullah of Oyo State Ministry of Justice, Dr. Ahmad Osundina, a medical consultant with University of Medical Sciences, Ondo State; and Mr Oladepo Yusuf,  an internal auditor with Trustbond Mortgage Bank Plc, who are both key officers of the professional group; Pharmacist Ganiyu Abideen of Jericho Chest Hospital, Ibadan; Engr.
