Bayelsa PDP Governorship Aspirant Resigns, Defects To APC

A governorship aspirant of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), in Bayelsa State, and foremost Ijaw Leader and former Caretaker Chairman of Southern Ijaw LGA, Great Joshua Maclever has resigned as a member of the party, and defected to the All Progressives Congress.

His resignation was disclosed in a letter dated 4, September 2019, and addressed to the PDP Chairman, Olodiama 2, ward 2, Constituency 4 Southern Ijaw LGA.

According to the letter, Maclever said “the reason for his withdrawal is strictly personal.”

He expressed gratitude to the PDP for giving him “a platform to be a very active member at the ward level, and at the state in general.”

Maclever’s resignation follows a day after he scored 7 votes at the just concluded governorship primary of the PDP.

Senator Douye Diri, Governor Seriake Dickson’s anointed candidate pulled a total of 561 votes from 1,309 delegates that participated in the indirect primary to emerge flag bearer of the PDP in the November 16 governorship poll in the state.
