The Nation’s Economy Requires Reducing Cost Of Governance – Akin Ogunbiyi

Dr. Akin Ogunbiyi Chairman Mutual Benefits Group/ Former PDP governership Aspirant

Formulation of policies to review and trim down the cost of governance and a change of selfish political culture will pave way for substantive growth in the nation.

Governorship candidate of the PDP in the last Osun state election, Akin Ogunbiyi said this in Osogbo in an event organised by Association of Veteran Journalists.

Akin Ogunbiyi said the new Economic Advisory Council by the federal government has the wherewithal to facilitate reduction in the cost of governance and create enabling environment for businesses to thrive in the nation if given the necessary support.

Ogunbiyi said Nigerians need a change of political values that encourage  active politics that will promote egalitarian society.

He stated that the nation’s political structure is defaced by individual aspirations, saying those that find themselves at the corridor of leadership are not prepared but imposed on people by godfathers

The former governorship candidate described basic amenities like healthcare services and education, among others, as fundamental benefits of democracy that a responsible administration should not grandstand on.

He said involvement in politics should be to reform societal anomalies and change the narratives of leadership as he advocated vibrant and relevant opposition at both state and national levels for equal distribution of dividends of democracy to the citizenry.

Expressed profound loyalty to PDP and unflinching support to last governorship aspirant in the state, Senator Ademola Adeleke and the entire Adeleke’s family

He said Osun state budgetary allocation on education and health deserves not less than 25 percentage each.

He described Nigerian democratic structure as expensive as he identified the nation’s economy as not productive but consumptive.
