Azeez Fashola, a singer better known as Naira Marley, has been detained by the Lagos state police command for flouting movement restrictions following a recently staged concert in Abuja.
The controversial music star had earlier made headlines after videos surfaced online, showing him boarding an airplane at a time interstate travels were banned and later mingle with fans closely.
On Thursday, Bala Elkana, a spokesperson of the state police command, confirmed that he was arrested and detained over the concert, which he flouted, the safety guidelines put in place by the federal government to curb the spread of COVID-19 in Nigeria.
The detention will be the second time he’s crossing paths with law enforcement amid the COVID-19 crisis.
Recall that In April, Marley was detained alongside Funke Akindele, a Nollywood actress, after the latter hosted a house party that the former attended, despite Lagos’ lockdown measures at the time.
