N-power: Ogun Govt to Empower Disengaged Volunteers

Ogun State government has opened another window of opportunity for disengaged Federal Government-owned N-power beneficiaries to become entrepreneurs in the agricultural sector.

This was stated in a statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr. Kunle Somorin, on Monday.

Somorin stated that the disengaged Npower beneficiaries could venture into various agricultural intervention programmes of the Ogun State government.

He said that the programmes are particularly designed to encourage start-up agric-businesses and promote up-scaling of smallholders’ farmers.

However, some of the programmes they can participate in include Anchor Borrowers’, Central Bank of Nigeria Cocoa Development Initiative, Oil Palm Intervention Programme, Fertilizer Intervention, Ogun State Economic Transformation Programme (OGSTEP), GIZ Tomato/Chilli Pepper, Ogun State Broiler Project and the Agric-Business/Small and Medium Enterprise Investment Scheme (AGSMEIS).

Also, it stated that apart from the listed opportunities, the State Ministry of Agriculture also provides Supplementary Extension Service and Agro-Input delivery to support farmers activities in the State.

The state government urged all interested NPower beneficiaries, who were disengaged from the programme recently, to report to the Ogun State NPower State Office, Ministry of Special Duties and Inter-Government Affairs, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta to register their interest, beginning from Monday 3rd to Friday 28th of August, 2020, between 9.00 am and 2pm.
