NBTE Grants Approval For Open Distance E-Learning To Ede Poly

……. Management lauds FG, reiterates stance on academic excellence

The National Board for Technical Education(NBTE) has granted approval to the Federal Polytechnic, Ede, for the commencement of Open and Distance Flexible E- learning.

This was contained in a circular dated Wednesday, 12th August, 2020, and signed by the Executive Secretary of the board, Dr. Masuud Kazaure, Mni.

The circular reads thus:” I am pleased to inform you that your Institution has being granted approval to commence operation of Open and Distance Flexible E-learning.

“This approval is limited to numbers of accredited programmes in your institution and must be based on strict compliance with the National TVET policy and strategy on ODFeL.

“Your institution is expected to develop an interactive online Learning platform for the ODFeL, with tools and resources to support and enhance education delivery and management. The learning platform should contain 24/7 student support systems, it should also include monitoring tools accessible to NBTE which will provide the following information, “:

  1. Total number of hours per course per semester.
  2. Students’ enrolment records for each programme per session.
  3. Gender based enrolment.
  4. Teacher online attendance.
  5. Feedback from students per course.
  6. Teaching materials made available to students per programme”.

The circular further added that all the practical sessions and examinations should be conducted using face- to-face traditional mode.

Meanwhile, the Rector of the institution, Dr John Taiwo Adekolawole, has lauded the gesture of the Federal Government over the approval, saying it is a testimony of the Muhammadu Buhari-led administration’s commitment towards quality and accessible education, especially technical education, without compromise.

He said the approval has further laid credence to the conscious efforts of the institution to strengthen quality of learning as well as to prepare students adequately ready as solvers of many National challenges .

Adekolawole made this known in a statement signed by the Public Relations Officer of the citadel, Sola Lawal, on Tuesday.

The Rector, according to the statement then called on prospective students across the country to take advantage of this opportunity to acquire quality technical education .
