Ajadosu polled 136 votes of the total votes cast to defeat his opponent, Dele Ajayi who polled 59.

The seat became vacant after the resignation of the immediate past chairman, Comrade Kehinde Ayantunji following his appointment as the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Adegboyega Oyetola on Students’ Affairs and Social Mobilisation.

Ajadosu was the Vice Chairman of the council during the reign of Comrade Ayatunji and later became the Acting Chairman until the Thursday election where he emerged victorious.

Also, Comrade Sesan Adeleke of federated chapel emerged as Vice Chairman unopposed.

The swearing in of the new elected officers was immediately conducted by Barrister Oyesiku Adelu alongside Barrister Laide Awolola in the presence of National Vice Chairman B zone, Cosmos Oni among others.

In his acceptance speech he promised to guarantee better welfare for journalist in the state.

He said, “Today marks a significant point in the life of our Union in the state; it is indeed a day to keep fate with destiny, for total rejuvenation of our confraternity, and for better performance and entrenchment of dynamic leadership approach,to attain the original goals and objectives of this great assemblage of societal illuminators.

Sincerely, our Union, at this period of its emaciation from the shackles of dilapidation and stagnation deserves a vibrant leadership that possess necessary intellect, dexterity and capability, to give pathway for development and turnaround.

Just seven months into the administration of Comrade Kehinde Ayantunji, with the support of the former Correspondents’ Chaiman, Mr Olaniyi Ajibola’s
revitalization and rehabilitation committee, with my humble self as the Vice chairman, we have succeeded in changing the state and fate of the union through total transformation of our facility, without getting a dime from neither government nor any individual.

This outstanding feat was unprecedentedly achieved through the ingenuity and creativity of the committee; with resultant commendations and loud ovation from the members of the Union, as well as friends of journalists in the state.

It is therefore behoves on my administration to sustain this legacy of innovation and inclusive leadership, for the purpose of building a strong and dogged Union, where the superior interests of all members are jealously protected.

It is a resounding pledge on my part, that the Union under my watch will assiduously work to guarantee better welfare for members and make Osun council of the NUJ, a pride to all.

As part of our blueprint for responsive leadership, my administration will immediately set up a Thrift and Cooperative Society for the Union, with engagement of cooperative experts, to assist in improving the economic base of our members, especially in the period of emergency and time of needs.

It will also serve as a leverage for our members to acquire desired property.

It may interest you to note that, in the last one month of holding sway as Acting Chairman, have realized the need to restore confidence in our members through training and retraining, and this informed my decision to organise a Virtual workshop to further equip our members with requisite skills needed to navigate period of provocation.

I want to assure you, that my administration is going to sustain the tempo, by always search for opportunity of building capacity of members through local and
international trainings.

The high demand for restoration of IIJ by members actually makes it imperative for my administration to quickly resuscitate IIJ programme in the state by embracing template of Oyo state, which has sustained the programme for decades.

It has become intrinsically germane, at this point to solicit support of all members to achieve all these laudable goals, knowing fully well that these can
only be possible through collective efforts, since the tasks ahead are challenging and daunting.

Permit me to conclude this address by sharing the brilliant thought of the 16th American President, Abraham Lincoln, who posits that.” Nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test a man’s character, give him power”

Today. you have entrusted me with your votes, and I solemnly pledge to reciprocate your love and affections through responsible, and responsible leadership, the one that is clearly rooted in efficiency and effectiveness. I thank you all immensely. he said.
